After First Meet of the New Group
In last week's meeting we discussed the background and method of Gurdjieff's Fourth Way, and some of the principles and practices of inner work in this tradition. We also discussed the meaning of Being, as the term is used in this work, and experienced some of the means of working in our Being.
This coming Thursday we will explore means of developing presence in Being and a direct experience of this level of our nature, which is the source of the qualities ordinarily sought in outer life.
The practice of the first meeting was to attempt to sense our feet even while we were talking together. This is an example of work on Being in the sense that we must make an inner effort to hold attention in a direct experience of the inner life (in this case, the feet).
Try, if you wish, bringing this practice of sensing your feet into some of the ordinary conditions of life-- walking up stairs, doing the dishes, eating a meal, driving in your car, having a conversation. We will have an opportunity to share observations of our efforts in the meeting on Thursday.
