Will This Be Done?
We continued working with the Six Point Exercise as a means of feeding the energy centers within the body. This supports work in harmonizing the parts of the instrument to transform energies and establish a ground of consciousness.
There are many ways or paths for the development of the nascent potential of a human being. Each focuses on developing different aspects of our instrument. The Fourth Way concentrates on developing consciousness -- the capacity to "know all at once", which is to say to be and stay present, in the multi-leveled domains of the body, emotions and mind.
One side of the development of consciousness is concentrating a substance (or energy) that is able to hold attention within, even when events in life draw our precious attention and emanations out of ourselves. The other side of the effort is to struggle with the ways that we waste energy -- tension, identification, fantasy, negative emotions, etc. -- and work to increase the harmonious work of transformation within the living alchemical instrument.
We also introduced an important practice from Gurdjieff's student John Bennett, the Decision Exercise. This is a powerful and all-encompassing practice that invites opening to a source of intent and intelligence from beyond (or within) ourselves. We pause to ask, and be receptive to hear an answer from a Will greater than our own -- "Will this be done?" --and be prepared to align function with will through being and obey our deeper self.
By way of announcement, our group's work weekend will take place May 2-4. This is an important opportunity to immerse in and receive the transformative effect of the atmosphere that comes from working together for a more extended period of time. During this work period we will practice sittings, have three or more Movements classes, do practical work, and prepare and eat meals together including the ritual Feast of the Idiots. If you have not already, please let me know if you plan to attend.
Finally, our weekly Movements classes are ongoing and open to everyone engaged in group work. Of course regular attendance deepens the impact of these masterpieces of inner work and choreography on our being. I encourage everyone engaged in the work to participate in this rare and extraordinary work together.
As always, group meetings are free of charge (with gratitude to Discovery Institute who donates the use of an the ideal place for our work). The work weekend and Movements classes include a minimal fee which is only to cover direct costs.
